Cork manager Conor Counihan is hopeful Paul Honohan's knee injury is not as serious as first feared.
Honohan suffered a knee injury when challenging for possession during a challenge game at Na Piarsaigh and there were fears that he had become the latest victim of a cruciate knee ligament curse that has struck Cork in recent months.
Ciaran Sheehan and David Goold are currently sidelined after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage, while Colm O'Neill has already battled his way back to fitness, but Counihan is hopeful that Honohan has not suffered the same fate as his team-mates.
"We’ll get a diagnosis during the week. It does look as if there’s some ligament damage but we’re confident that it isn’t one of the more serious ones. It’s been a rough couple of months that way but look, hopefully we’ve seen the back of that."
Honohan will undergo a scan this week but reports suggest he has suffered a lateral ligament injury which will see the player sidelined for up to ten weeks.
