Ireland will face France at the Stade de France on Sunday, March 4m the RBS Six Nations Committee has confirmed.
Declan Kidney's men were ready to make their way out onto the Stade de France pitch on Saturday evening when they were informed that the match had been abandoned after referee Dave Pearson ruled that the playing surface was unsafe.
The abandonment, which came just six minutes before the 8pm kick-off, was widely condemned with many believing the situation could have been avoided as the forecast had suggested temperatures would be below freezing by match-time.
Talks regarding the rescheduling commenced on Monday but the date of Sunday, March 4 was not confirmed until Tuesday evening.
"Following the very regrettable postponement of the France v Ireland match last Saturday which left thousands of supporters disappointed and frustrated, the Six Nations Council wish to announce that the postponed RBS 6 Nations match between France and Ireland will now take place on Sunday 4thMarch at 4pm French local time (3pm GMT) in the Stade de France," a statement from the Six Nations read.
"The Six Nations Council can also confirm that French & Irish ticket holders unable to attend the match will receive a full refund of their match ticket. Final details of the refund mechanism should be available tomorrow.
"The RBS 6 Nations Championship format dictates that a match postponed in weeks one or two of the competition will be rescheduled to take place in either week three or, as in this case, week five of the tournament."
"Commenting on the rescheduled match details John Feehan, Chief Executive, Six Nations said: “We are delighted that we have agreed a new date and time for the RBS 6 Nations France vs Ireland match in the RBS 6 Nations window. We are also delighted that the FFR have announced a ticket refund scheme.”
The new date means that both Ireland and France will have to play four matches in as many weeks.
