No World Cup bid for Over

Twice Over will miss this year's Dubai World Cup after two disappointing runs in the Meydan showpiece.

Sir Henry Cecil's seven-year-old proved he could compete against younger horses when winning both the Juddmonte International and York Stakes last year, prompting connections to keep him in training for another year.

Despite previous trips to Dubai the Prince Khalid Abdullah-owned horse will not line-up in the March 31 showpiece after a disappointing ninth last year.

While a definite plan has yet to be set out for the son of Observatory,  Teddy Grimthorpe, Abdullah's racing manager, has confirmed that he is likely to follow a similar path to last year.

"He's not going to go to Dubai this year," said Grimthorpe. "He's fine at the moment but it's too early to say where we'll start off this season.

"We'll just see how he is but his races are pretty much mapped out for him. He may be seven, but he remains tremendously enthusiastic.

"It would have been very hard to take him away from Warren Place as everyone is very attached to him there."
