Former Everton defender David Weir has returned to the club in a coaching capacity working alongside manager David Moyes.
The Scot made 269 appearances for the Toffees across his eight-year spell at Goodison Park, where he was captain for both Moyes and former manager Walter Smith.
Along with his coaching responsibilities with the second team, he will be available to play in reserve fixtures where he will wear an Everton shirt for the first time since leaving the club for Rangers in 2007.
Moyes has expressed his delight to offer Weir a position back at the club and believes he has a lot to offer the younger players at the club.
"David's returning to us in a coaching capacity," he told the club's website.
"He will help out Alan Stubbs with the reserves and he will also play in the occasional reserve game to help support some of those younger players coming through.
"It will be good to have him around the place. He is a great professional and someone all the players at the Club can look up to."
Weir left Rangers last month after struggling for first-team opportunities, he now joins former Scot team-mate Duncan Ferguson in the backroom team at Goodison Park.
