World champion Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheet on the first day of pre-season testing at Barcelona.
The Red Bull driver posted the fastest time of the morning, knocking Force India's Nico Hulkenberg from the top spot, and he managed to better his time later in the day, clocking 1:23.265.
It was a relatively quiet day at the Circuit de Catalunya with very little changes in the standings as Hulkenberg finished second just ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton.
Daniel Ricciardo brought his Toro Rosso home in fourth, while Fernando Alonso could only manage a 1:24.100 in the Ferrari, although it was enough to deny Mercedes' Michael Schumacher a top five place.
Sauber's Sergio Perez finished within a second of Vettel but the remaining four drivers in action failed to do so with Bruno Senna clocking 1:25.711 in the Williams.
Heikki Kovalainen brought his Caterham home in ninth just ahead of Romain Grosjean's Lotus, although he managed just seven laps before his car developed an issue which brought his day to a premature end.
Marussia's Charles Pic rounded out the day's runners.
