Pardew buzzing as cavalry return

by Setanta Staff , 22 February 2012 Pardew buzzing as cavalry return

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew feels the return of some of his top stars will give the club a lift for Saturday's clash with Wolves.

The north-east outfit have enjoyed an incredible season to date and currently sit in sixth place in the table, with 42 points from 25 games played.

They were tipped as possible relegation material at the start of the season but have won 12 games and drawn six to maintain their challenge to play European football next season.

The Tynesiders have won four out of their last six games which is a remarkable statistic given the fact that they have been missing several key players.

But Pardew will welcome back the likes of French midfielder Yohan Cabaye from suspension, while Cheik Tiote is home again after playing for the Ivory Coast at the African Nations Cup.

Victory over the Midlanders would see the Magpies move up to fifth place and Pardew is delighted to have a strong squad again.

"Now I have my strongest squad to pick from since Man United," he said. "We've come through the period without our iconic players, with some fantastic results still. That's where we are. We're hurt, but we're still in a great position. We're looking forward."
