Mancini eyes double

by Setanta Staff , 23 February 2012 Mancini eyes double

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is eyeing double success this season, after moving into the last 16 of the Europa League.

City scored three goals in the final 14 minutes at the Etihad Stadium to see off 10-man Porto 4-0 and complete a 6-1 aggregate success.

The impressive Sergio Aguero set up victory with his second goal of the tie after just 18 seconds and later hit the bar before Edin Dzeko eventually doubled the advantage.

David Silva and David Pizarro then completed the job after the sending off of Rolando for two bookable offences.

When asked about the twin trophy push, Mancini told the ">Manchester Evening News: "We hope so but it is not easy.

We want to try to go to the final if possible, but it will be difficult because the Europa League has top squads - Manchester United, Valencia, Schalke - it's like the Champions League.

"For this reason it will be difficult but we want to try. After that the Barclays Premier League - we are top, and if we win the next 13 games we will win the league."

Mancini also confirmed that he would like Carlos Tevez to return to the side following their differences earlier in the campaign.

The Argentine striker has issued an apology for his actions, in which Mancini is happy to accept and move on from the issue.
