A tight game of few chances looked destined to end goalless until Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Collins rifled home his 10th goal of the season five minutes from time.

Rovers failed to clear a corner and Collins reacted instinctively to rocket a shot on the turn to the top corner of the net for his tenth goal of the season.

Shrewsbury remain unbeaten at the Greenhous Meadow this season and have collected 36 points from a possible 42 on home soil.

A sterile first half featured few chances at either end, with neither keeper seriously extended.

The second half was a little more open with Collins seeing a header tipped over by keeper Michael Poke while Rovers' Elliot Richards was just off target from the edge of the box.

Most of the first half action came from the home side, who probably considered themselves unfortunate to be only a goal up at the break - and that came from the penalty spot.

After seven minutes Alex Revell headed a good chance wide, Sam Wood had an effort bravely blocked by Danny Coid and Ian Dunbavin made two saves in quick succession to deny Kieron Cadogan and then Wood on the follow up.

But when Mark Bradley broke into the box after 27 minutes he was halted by a lunging tackle from Accrington midfielder Bryan Hughes.

Shaun Harrad stepped up to net his second goal in as many games since joining the Millers on loan from Bury.

Stanley could have had an equaliser from their first corner after 53 minutes, but Coid skied his shot high over the bar.

Harrad should have had a second for Rotherham after 65 minutes with a free header from Cadogan's cross but Dunbavin saved with his feet, but the Millers are now level on points with Stanley for when Paul Cook's tenure as boss - with Richardson as his assistant - begins in earnest.

The on-loan Reading 18-year-old smashed a 35-yard free kick against the bar with impressive Argyle goalkeeper Jake Cole beaten just before the hour at Home Park.

It was not the first time the Bees hit the woodwork.

In the first half, Clovis Kamdjo hit the post with a cracking 18 yard shot in the 16th minute.

Barnet manager Lawrie Sanchez will be wondering how his side did not break the deadlock during a succession of second half corners, when Cole and central defender Darren Purse cleared inswinging Mark Byrne deliveries off the goalline.

At the other end Argyle's on-loan Burnley striker Alex MacDonald came closest to scoring for the home side.

In first half stoppage time he latched on to a poor backpass to push the ball just past the far post with Bees keeper Dean Brill beaten.

Then in the 86th minute Barnet central defender Paul Downing cleared MacDonald's angled drive off the line in a crowded goalmouth.
