Mick McCarthy has finally succeeded in signing Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Hunt from Hull City, for an undisclosed fee.
The winger will now swap the Tigers for the Wolves as he moves to Molineux, retaining his Premier League status as a result. McCarthy had made a STG5m bid for the player during the transfer window which was knocked back by Hull chairman Adam Pearson.
However, Hunt later revealed that he had struck a deal with his employers that he would be allowed leave if the club failed to stay in the Premier League.
Newcastle and West Brom were both thought to be interested in the 28-year-old but Wolves remained favourites for his signature throughout, with the player himself saying that the move "had been a long time coming."
Hunt is still recovering from a foot injury but hopes to be fit in time for the start of next season.
