Pearson takes over the Tigers

Hull City have confirmed that Nigel Pearson is the new manager of the club.

The Tigers, who will begin next season in the Coca Cola Championship after two years in the Premier League, have turned to the former Southampton and Leicester City chief as they try and regain top-flight status.

Pearson, 46, led Leicester to the League One Championship in 2008/09 and then to the Championship playoffs last year, where they were beaten on penalties by Cardiff City in the semi-finals. His efforts at the midlands club have earned much recognition and he has now switched to the Tigers on a three-year deal.

Craig Shakespeare and Steve Walsh will work alongside Pearson as assistant manager and first team coach/chief scout respectively.

Speaking about the appointment, Tigers Head of Football Operations Adam Pearson told the club’s website: "We are delighted to welcome a manager of Nigel's experience and calibre to the club. We feel it is a real coup for Hull City and that Nigel is the best man to mould the existing squad into a competitive Championship team.

"Nigel had two outstanding seasons at Leicester City and I feel sure this experience and winning formula will ensure the very best chance of bringing success back to the club."
