Darren Clarke has been invited to play in the USPGA Championship, boosting his chances of qualifying for the European Ryder Cup team.
With a world ranking of 102, Clarke faced the prospect of having to watch the action from Whistling Straits from home but he has received an invite to play in the year's final Major.
The last time the event was staged at the Wisconsin course, Clarke led after the first round but dropped to 13th after a closing round 76.
A good performance in the event could see Clarke climb up the European Ryder Cup points table. He is currently 21st with five weeks remaining before qualifying ends.
