Celtic recorded a 2-2 draw in their Emirates Cup opener against Lyon, after netting twice in the last eight minutes.

Last season's Champions League semi-finalists were 2-0 through goals from Michel Bastos and Harry Novillo, but Gary Hooper netted on his debut before substitute Georgios Samaras' header levelled matters.

Marouane Chamakh scored on his home debut as Arsenal drew 1-1 with AC Milan in the Emirates Cup. Alexandre Pato equalised for Milan with 14 minutes to go.

Earlier on Saturday, Nathan Burns scored the only goal as AEK Athens beat Rangers 1-0  in their final Sydney Festival of Football match.

In the same tournament, Brett Emerton and Morten Gamst Pedersen netted as Blackburn beat Sydney FC 2-1.

Tim Cahill scored a hat-trick as Everton recorded a 4-2 victory over Norwich at Carrow Road.

The Australia midfielder had given the Toffees a 2-0 half-time lead, but Andrew Crofts and Andrew Surman levelled for the Championship side, before Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and Cahill netted again.

Mark Hughes's Fulham side lost 1-0 to Portsmouth at Fratton Park in Linvoy Primus' testimonial, thanks to Pompey skipper Marc Wilson's header.

Newcastle came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with PSV Eindhoven at St James' Park.

Ola Toivanen and Balazs Dzsudzsak gave the Dutch side a 2-0 advantage before the break, before Ryan Taylor and Leon Best netted.

Carlton Cole scored the only goal as West Ham beat Ipswich, whilst Fraizer Campbell netted as Sunderland recorded a 2-1 win over Leicester.
