All Blacks have injury concerns

by Setanta Staff , 28 August 2011

The All Blacks are sweating over injuries to forwards Kieran Read and Adam Thomson, just a fortnight ahead of the World Cup.

Number eight Read picked up an ankle injury and blindside flanker Thomson suffered a knock to his elbow on Saturday as the All Blacks suffered a disappointing 25-20 defeat to Australia in their final Tri-Nations clash.

It means that the All Blacks, who are huge favourites to win the World Cup on home soil, have lost their last two fixtures ahead of the showpiece event, having been beaten by South Africa in their penultimate match.

However, Kiwis coach Graham Henry may have bigger worries than his side's recent form.

Following the match, Henry said: "We're pretty positive really about Kieran. The doctor thinks he'll be able to play in the World Cup."

However, regarding Thomson, he added: "It doesn't look good, we'll just have to wait and see."
