Rangers move in for Baggies target

by Setanta Staff , 15 December 2011 football news

Rangers boss Ally McCoist has confirmed his interest in West Brom target Scott Allan - who looks set to leave Dundee United in January.

The Glasgow giants have contacted the Tayside club after reports emerged that they had agreed a £400,000 fee with West Brom for the transfer of the highly-rated Scotland Under-21 starlet - who runs out of contract in June.

However, those stories appear to have been premature - and potentially designed to lure one of the Old Firm clubs out of the background and into the bidding war.

West Brom remain Allan's most likely Premier League buyer, despite Manchester United having been keen on him at one stage.

He made his debut for Dundee United in a Europa League qualifier against Slask Wroclaw earlier this season but has been frozen out of the side since October when it became clear that he would not be signing a new deal at Tannadice.
