Tiger Woods says he is pleased with the progress he is making despite an error-strewn final round at the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship.
The former world number one had played superbly in the first three rounds in the UAE, giving himself a shot at a second title in the space of two months after his win at the Chevron World Challenge in December.
However, Woods managed to find the fairway just once on the back nine and made six greens in regulation as he saw Robert Rock take the title by two shots.
The 36-year-old has now finished third, first and third on his last three starts and despite his capitulation in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, says he is feeling good about his game.
"I'm pleased at the progress I've made," said Woods. "I just need to keep building, keep getting more consistent.
"I hit the ball beautifully all week which I'm very pleased about but I was just a touch off on Sunday. I was hitting the ball a little bit further than I thought I would.
"A couple of my three-woods were going about 320 yards which I don't normally do and a couple of my irons were going further than they are supposed to.
"That's something to look at and something to try and figure out."
Woods is back in action next week at the scene of one of his most famous triumphs, Pebble Beach, for the AT&T National Pro-am where he will partner Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
"I hit the ball good enough to win the golf tournament this week," said Woods. "I just didn't get it done.
"Now I've got a week off to get ready for Pebble and then we have a couple of big World Golf Championship events."
