QPR launch Zamora bid

by Setanta Staff , 31 January 2012 football news

Queens Park Rangers have launched a late move to sign Bobby Zamora from Fulham as Mark Hughes targets a new striker.

Hughes is keen to bolster his attack and after failing with a bid for Wigan's Hugo Rodallega and giving up hope of landing Carlos Tevez, he is now ready to turn to Zamora.

The striker has been strongly linked with a move from Craven Cottage following a rumoured bust up with Martin Jol but it remains to be seen if the Dutchman will be willing to sell without having a replacement lined up first.

That player could be Pavel Pogrebnyak but everything could well hinge on the Russian obtaining a work permit.

Jol said at the weekend that neither Zamora or Andy Johnson would leave the club before the deadline but if Hughes offers big money and the Pogrebnyak deal gets the green light then he could be tempted to sell.
