Ireland's Kevin O'Brien is hoping to be picked up in Saturday's IPL auction and make his debut in the Twenty20 extravaganza.
The 27-year-old shot to the attention of the cricketing world when he hammered England's bowlers to all parts of Bangalore at the World Cup last year, hitting the fastest century in the tournament's history.
His hundred came off just 50 balls and he went on to make 113 as the men in green shocked England to record a famous victory.
The Dubliner has played county cricket for Nottinghamshire but plied his trade for Gloucestershire last season and he will return to the south west county in 2012.
While the big-name stars are up for big money in the IPL auction, O'Brien is available for just 50,000 US Dollars and the all-rounder hopes to be given a chance to return to the scene of his greatest triumph in one of the most exciting events in the cricket calendar.
"The IPL is a great tournament, the biggest in the world in my opinion given the crowds and media coverage, and it's so exciting to be in with a chance of being there," he said.
"The auction is pretty close now and it would be fantastic to get picked up.
"The eight weeks I spent out there at the World Cup was amazing, I loved every minute."
