Phil Mickelson hopes his poor start to 2012 won't affect his chances of winning the Phoenix Open as he looks to kickstart his year.
"Lefty" has struggled so far this season, finishing 49th at the Humana Challenge and missing the cut at last week's Farmers Insurance Open.
The four-time major winner now heads to Arizona in the hope a return to a familiar course could pay dividends, Mickelson having graduated from Arizona State College.
Mickelson will no doubt be the home favourite and has a decent record at TPC Scottsdale, winning the tournament once way back in 1996.
The 41-year-old has won one PGA Tour event since his victory at the 2010 Masters and hopes he can rubbish talk of being passed it by winning his second Phoenix Open title.
"I'm excited about this year and I'm ready to play," Mickelson said. "I don't know what happened last week. I'm going to put it as something I'm going to shrug off because my practice sessions have been really good.
"My putting feels terrific and I felt it was the last physical part of my game that needed some work. Now I've just got to get it from the practice tee to the course."
