Ba pledges Toon future

by Setanta Staff , 07 February 2012 Ba pledges Toon future

Demba Ba has laughed off speculation linking him with a switch away from Newcastle and says he is not looking to move.

The striker has turned out to be the signing of the season after arriving in the summer and tops the Premier League goalscoring charts.

The 26-year-old has bagged 16 goals in his last 16 games so it comes as no surprise that he is he being linked to one of the top four clubs in the summer.

However Ba has dismissed the rumours and says he is more than happy playing his football with Newcastle.

"I was listening to people saying 'He's going here, he's going there,' and I had a big smile on my face," he said. "It was so funny to me. I never talked to anyone about wanting to leave.

"The most important thing is being happy in your football and I am."

Ba has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave on the cheap in the summer and Newcastle are moving quickly to address that with a bumper new deal in the pipeline.
