Lennon guards against complacency

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has warned his players they will be dropped if they begin to think the SPL title is sewn up.

The Hoops take on Hearts at Parkhead on Wednesday night hoping to extend their lead at the top of the SPL table to four points.

Meanwhile, their fierce Glasgow rivals Rangers are going through something of a crisis, with financial difficulties meaning they could not replace top-scorer Nikica Jelavic, who departed for Everton on transfer deadline day.

Gers boss Ally McCoist was forced to publicly deny reports he was set to quit in the wake of the Jelavic sale, before a bad week got worse when the club crashed out of the Scottish Cup at home to Dundee United on Sunday.

Lennon though has remained cautious about his team's title chances despite Rangers' recent woes, and made it clear he would not stand for any complacency from his players.

He told the Glasgow Evening Times: "It's all right outsiders patting them on the back and saying it's all done and dusted.

"Well, it's not, and it's certainly not the attitude we are adopting in here.

"Rangers are the champions, and for a reason, and we have to take on the challenges that come our way and overcome them as best we can.

"There will be no room for complacency here.

"And anyone showing that will be not playing."
