Dalglish slams Suarez criticism

by Setanta Staff , 11 February 2012

Kenny Dalglish said it was 'out of order' to say Luis Suarez's refusal to shake hands with Patrice Evra resulted in a bad-tempered game.

The Liverpool chief claimed he did not see the Uruguayan international snub the Manchester United full-back's offer of a handshake ahead of his side's 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday lunch-time.

However Dalglish was fuming with his post-match interviewer's suggestion that Suarez's decision to snub Evra resulted in the bad feeling throughout the contest which resulted in a bust-up between both sets of players in the tunnel at half time and a slight altercation after the game.

When quizzed about how Suarez, who has recently returned from an eight-match ban for racially abusing Evra at Anfield in October, Dalglish told Sky Sports HD2: "I think you are very severe and are bang out of order to blame Luis Suarez for anything that happened here today.

"I think predominately both sets of fans behaved really well.

"They had a bit of banter between each other - no problem."

However, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had a different view and said Suarez was a "disgrace to Liverpool Football Club" for snubbing Evra.

The long-serving Scot went on to say that the player's behaviour was unforgivable and claims the forward should never be allowed to play for Liverpool again.
