Australia have received bad news ahead of their first ODI clash with Sri Lanka as Michael Clarke is set to miss the game through injury
The talented batsman and skipper of the ODI side picked up a minor hamstring injury during his team's four-wicket defeat to India last weekend in Adelaide.
Australia are currently preparing for their Commonwealth Bank Series encounter with Sri Lanka on Friday, with the squad set to be named on Tuesday.
However the Baggy Greens will be without their talisman Clarke, who will not recover in time for the upcoming clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground later this week.
Australia team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris has revealed the injury will need further analysis before it can be determined when Clarke will return to action for his country.
He told Sky Sports News: "He had scans today (Monday) that confirmed the low grade nature of the injury."
"He will not recover in time to play in Australia's next Commonwealth Bank Series game on Friday but I will assess him later this week and decide on his availability for the game in Brisbane on Sunday 19 February against India."
