Schwarzer reveals future target

by Setanta Staff , 13 February 2012 Cottage veteran reveals future target

Mark Schwarzer is 'living the dream' with Fulham and hopes to play on for two more seasons with one eye on the 2014 World Cup.

The 39-year-old goalkeeper is definitely contracted to the Craven Cottage outfit until summer 2013 having recently penned a new 12-month contract following another impressive campaign which was recently interrupted for around six weeks by a spinal injury.

However, Schwarzer is still looking further ahead in his career despite rapidly approaching his 40th birthday, while he is confident of being able to represent Australia in the World Cup finals in Brazil in two years' time.

The former Bradford City custodian, who joined Fulham in 2008 following an 11-year spell with Middlesbrough, told Skysports: "It's great, I am living the dream. I am playing football at the highest level and I am almost 40 years old.

"There are not too many of us that can say that so I am still playing because I love playing.

"As long as you love playing and you're still good enough to play at this level then I want to continue.

"I still have ambitions to go and represent Australia in another World Cup in 2014, that is my ultimate goal and I am working towards it."
