Cusiter demands improvement

Scotland scrum-half Chris Cusiter has insisted his side must improve if they are to get anything out of this Six Nations campaign.

The Scots have lost the first two games in the competition this season, with defeats to old rivals England at Murrayfield and Wales at the Millennium Stadium leaving the Celtic outfit near the bottom of the table.

Scotland were the better side in both games during the first halves but costly mistakes and poor decision making after the break cost them in both encounters.

With tough games against France and Ireland coming up, it looks like the Scots will once again be battling for the wooden spoon with fellow strugglers Italy.

Cuister is adamant there is plenty of potential in the squad but they must improve their second-half displays if they want to win Test matches in the Six Nations this term.

He told Sky Sports News: "All the games we've been in recently have been fairly even contests, but we have got to start winning. The boys are all gutted - we should have done better.

"We know we can beat any team we play against, and we were looking really good for a while, but a lapse in concentration and a couple of mistakes off the back of it and all of a sudden the game is almost out of sight.

"It's a harsh lesson to learn, but we have got to put together an 80-minute performance."
