Daily transfer watch

With just 30 days remaining in the transfer window, Setanta.com brings you all the latest.

Manchester City, who already have six strikers on their books, are considering a move for Real Madrid front-man Gonzalo Higuain. With Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli, Dzeko, Adebayor and Santa Cruz all still plying their trade with City it’s obvious that manager Roberto Mancini needs to sell before he can buy and this may signal the end of Santa Cruz, Adebayor and Dzeko. Adebayor is still trying to negotiate a pay-off to join Spurs while Juventus have reignited their interest in Dzeko.

Andy Carroll will receive £90,000 a week over eight years if he decides to accept a move to West Ham. It is thought Spurs are also preparing a bid for the striker but Carroll is still adamant that he will only leave Liverpool for a return to Newcastle.

Real Madrid are threatening to end their interest in Tottenham’s Luka Modric after the cub refused to budge on their £40 million asking price. The La Liga giants will instead turn their attention to former player Wesley Sneijder who would jump at the chance of a second shot at the Bernabeu.

Arsenal, who look set to lose Captain and talisman Robin van Persie, now face a fight to hold onto his supplier in chief Alex Song. Song was instrumental in many of Van Persie’s goals last season and Barcelona are set to make an offer of £11.7 million for the Cameroonian.

Manchester United and Arsenal will make a trip to Celtic Park this evening to run the rule over Victor Wanyama again. The clubs as well as Manchester City and QPR have been tracking the Kenyan giant throughout the summer and a good performance tonight in the third qualifying round of the Champions League should be enough to tempt a bid from the Premier League big guns.

Liverpool are targeting ex Everton midfielder Manuel Fernandes. The Porteguese star who is currently playing with Besiktas would cost around £7 million could prove to a cheaper alternative to Joe Allen. The Reds are also interested in PSG defender Mamadou Sakho.

And the rest:

Stoke are in talks with Aston Villa over bringing defender Alan Hutton to the Britannia, they have also had a bid rejected for Wolves winger Michael Kightly.... Liverpool will allow Craig Bellamy to rejoin Cardiff on a permanent basis..... West Ham will complete the signing of James Collins from Aston Villa later today..... Arsenal’s move for Santi Cazorla has been delayed by takeover talks at Malaga.
