Setanta Africa is a full time sports channel which is distributed in Sub Saharan Africa through a network of DTH, DTT, cable, and FTA platforms.

Background

Setanta Africa was born out of many years of providing sport to both national and private broadcasters on an ad hoc basis.

The Irish broadcaster, Setanta, together with Barry Lambert, who has been working in the African sports television market for over 30 years, joined forces to create Setanta Africa.

Mission

Setanta Africa has a desire as a company to contribute in a positive way to the community in Africa. Our mission is to associate the positive aspects of sport and teamwork to enhance the well being and knowledge base of the community as a whole.

Commitment

Setanta Africa is a taking a long term view. We are launching our full time channel as and when conditions allow in each African country. Our approach is allowing us to grow in Africa organically as the market dictates and allows us to work with suppliers as partners who share our long term goals.

Programming

Since its birth as a sports content provider to terrestrial broadcasters, Setanta Africa has grown not only in popularity but also in content. What started primarily as a Premier League Club channel has now grown into a fully fledged sports channel.
The channel now includes live football coverage from Spain's Copa Del Rey, Belgium's Jupiler League, Scotland's SPL, USA's MLS, England's Blue Square Premier, Japan's JLeague and South America's premier cup competition the Copa Libertadores. Setanta Africa also shows delayed Premier League Football from Aston Villa TV and delayed Serie A matches from the Milan Channel. 
Apart from the weekly menu of football, Setanta Africa now includes many new and exciting sports like Basketball, Wrestling, Motor Racing, Sailing, Tennis, Rugby and much more.
