Cruciate injury ends Moran season

by Kieran O'Daly , 19 February 2012

Influential Kerry midfielder David Moran is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering his second severed cruciate ligament injury inside ten months.

Moran, 23, suffered the knee ligament injury while training with his club Kerins O'Rahillys last week. He underwent a scan in Dublin on Saturday morning which revealed the full extent of the damage, and Moran has since confirmed that he will miss the entire Championship season.

The son of former Kingdom great Dennis ‘Ogie’ Moran, Moran is a final year student at UL. He played in midfield for the Kerry minor side that lost the 2006 All-Ireland Final replay to Roscommon in Ennis. He was also a key figure in the Kerry side that won the All-Ireland U-21 title in 2008.

The injured knee is the same one that he damaged playing for his county against Monaghan back in April.
