Warren washes his hands of future fight

by Setanta Staff , 20 February 2012

Frank Warren has said he would want nothing to do with a future fight between British heavyweights David Haye and Dereck Chisora.

The pair plunged boxing - and the big man's division - to a new low on Saturday night when they became involved in an ugly brawl at the post-fight press conference following Chisora's points defeat at the hands of Vitali Klitschko in Munich.

Warren, Chisora's promoter, says they should have sorted out their differences in the ring and divorced himself from the idea of supporting a potential all-English showdown.

"No, I wouldn't," he told BBC Radio 5 Live when asked about the possibility. "I'm sure down the road that will probably happen now, but I don't feel I could do that.

"Any differences they had, that should have happened in the ring rather than instead of the circumstances it did."

When asked about the shameful scenes, the 59-year-old continued: "Could I have stopped it? I doubt it.

"What could have stopped it is had the German promoters had some adequate security. But they didn't.

"[Chisora's trainer] Don Charles, you see the transcripts of what he said - 'please get that man out of here' - but they didn't have any security.

"The BBBofC also have to accept some responsibility in as much as their chairman was there and was nowhere to be seen when all this was going on. He disappeared."
