West Ham co-owner David Sullivan believes he is owed a favour by Mathew Upson and is looking for him to agree a new deal as pay back.
The centre half has been linked with a summer move away from Upton Park as he will only have 12 months left on his contract but Sullivan wants him to sign a new deal and stay with the club.
Whilst co-owner of Birmingham Sullivan allowed Upson to leave for West Ham and he is hoping that the favour is repaid by the player and that he will sign a new deal to keep him at West Ham.
"We all really want Matthew to stay," Sullivan said in The Sun.
"I did him a favour letting him leave Birmingham and I hope he can return it."
