Davenport agrees Hammers pay-off

by Admin , 16 March 2010 West Ham Generic

West Ham United defender Callum Davenport has agreed a £250,000 pay off with the club and will leave in a much-expected clear-out.

New Hammers owners David Sullivan and David Gold are desperate to reduce the costs at the club and Davenport looks to be heading out after agreeing the pay off.

Davenport, who earns around £16,000 a week, has had his troubles off the pitch and has been charged with assaulting his sister Cara and is due to stand trial at Luton Crown Court in August.

The player and his mother were the victims of stabbings by his sister's boyfriend Worrell Whitehurst in August and he has not played since, though even before that he looked to have no future at the club having spent time on loan at Sunderland last term.

He cost the club £3m when he signed from Tottnham Hotspur back in 2007 and has played just 13 times since then with his last appearance being way back on Boxing Day 2008.

He is likley to be folloed out of Upton Park by sereval other players in the summer.
