It has been confirmed that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will face no action after a clash with Portsmouth's Michael Brown on Monday.
Gerrard appeared to lash out at Brown in his side's 4-1 win over the Premier League's bottom side, a forearm to the back of the neck sending the combative Pompey man sprawling to the ground.
It had looked like TV pictures might land the England star in trouble, however referee Stuart Atwell saw the incident and did not book the player. Now, after receiving the referee's report it has been decided that Gerrard has no case to answer.
The incident came just a week after Gerrad also escaped punishment when he appeared to make a two-fingered gesture at referee Andre Marriner after being booked for a poor challenge on Wigan Athletic's James McCarthy as the Reds went down 1-0 at the DW Stadium.
