MacLean determined to end on a high

Aberdeen loan striker Steven MacLean has targeted seventh place after securing their safety with the win at Falkirk.

The Dons have endured a miserable campaign and needed the three points at the weekend to pull clear of the Bairns and now have a nine-point advantage over the bottom club.

MacLean, who is on loan from Plymouth Argyle until the end of the season, is unsure of where his future lies but wants to end the season on a positive note and help the Dons to seventh in the table.

"Whatever happens to me in the future I just want to do well with the team and get a few goals along the way," Maclean, who scored the only goal against Falkirk, said.

"It was a massive game and a good goal to win it. We answered our critics but to be fair at times we deserved stick.

"We shouldn't have been in a position where we needed to win like this to get us safe.

"Hopefully now we can push on and catch St Johnstone."
