Wigan could be set to join the likes of Celtic, Coventry, Ipswich and Derby in the race for Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez is set to try and bolster his forward line this summer following Jason Scotland's disappointing campaign at the DW Stadium.
And the need for a new forward could intensify if reported Arsenal target Hugo Rodallega is tempted away from the club.
Therefore it is no surprise to see the Latics linked with a swoop for 22-year-old Hooper, who has bagged 19 league goals to ensure the Iron will stay in the Championship for a second season.
The player only cost £125,000 from Southend two years ago, but his success in the second tier of English football this past campaign has resulted in strong interest in his services.
Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins would be loathe to lose such a key player, but reports that he could fetch a fee of around £2million may tempt them to sell.
And Martinez would no doubt be in the driving seat for his signature given that he could offer Hooper a chance of playing Premier League football.
