Jim Jefferies has revealed goalkeeper Marius Zaliukas will continue as Hearts' captain in Saturday's clash with local rivals Hibs.
The Lithuanian international is currently the holder of the armband despite Michael Stewart's return to the side recently.
And Jefferies says Zaliukas will continue to be the skipper although there is "nothing sinister" in the decision.
"I have said before there is nothing sinister in this," the Jambos boss told the club's website.
"Marius had been doing the job fine and I wanted Michael to concentrate on his football as he had been out for a few weeks injured. "
Marius will continue as captain this weekend if he is selected but to be honest I want 11 captains out on that park.
"It's really not something that concerns me too much at the moment and it's not a major issue. We have a couple of matches left after the Hibs game and it could be that I might even look at a couple of others in those games and see how they handle it and what they offer."
