Watford are monitoring Preston ace Neil Mellor's situation at Deepdale and a summer bid for the striker could be on the cards.
The former Liverpool striker, who has had a fairly impressive campaign for PNE, scoring 11 goals, met with boss Darren Ferguson this week to be told he can move on if the right offer comes in over the summer.
Several Championship sides are said to be keen on the 27-year-old with Watford and Coventry said to be leading the race.
Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United are all also said to be keen on the player.
