A knee injury will keep on-loan striker Kenny Cooper out of Plymouth's final game of the season against Peterborough on Sunday.
The USA international has already missed last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest due to the problem and it's unlikely he will be returning to the club next season.
Argyle head coach Paul Mariner had high hopes for Cooper when he arrived from German second division side 1860 Munich at the end of January, but he has struggled to make an impact after failing to score in seven appearances.
Mariner suspects his injury is linked to an old problem he suffered playing in Germany, but it would seem the striker wasn't up front about aggravating the knee during a reserve game back in March as he has tried playing on ever since.
Mariner said: "We noticed in training he didn't look himself, so we asked him and he told us he had been carrying this injury.
"
He has been battling on, so credit to the lad, but, to be honest, he hasn't done himself any favours by doing that.
Mariner continued: "I don't think it's serious, but it's bad enough. When it's your knee, you are thinking about that rather than playing football."
Meanwhile, the Pilgrims will also be without fellow striker Jamie Mackie for the clash against Peterborough as he's nursing a calf problem, while a knee complaint will rule out winger Craig Noone.
