Bayern coy on Ribery rumour

by setanta.com staff , 21 May 2010

Bayern Munich are refusing to be drawn on speculation that Franck Ribery is ready to commit his future to the club.

According to reports, the in-demand French international is to sign a new five-year contract with the Bavarian giants ahead of this weekend's Champions League final against Inter Milan in Madrid, a game which Ribery is to miss through suspension.

However, when asked about the story on Friday, Bayern's press chief Markus Horwick refused to give anything away.

"The club management will give no comment or declaration tomorrow or today," he said.

"Transfer news is communicated by the management and not the journalists. We are concentrating on tomorrow's match - players, management and everybody else."

Bayern midfield Bastian Schweinsteiger also refused to be drawn on the topic during his pre-game press conference.

"These are rumours," the German international said. "Of course Frank Ribery is an excellent player and we'd love to keep him but if the Bayern Munich management haven't said anything, I can't say anything."
