Wigan appear to be winning the race for Swansea midfielder Leon Britton but still face competition from Sheffield United.
Middlesbrough are also interested in the player and are ready with a bumper contract offer and Swansea themselves have not given up hope of keeping the player in South Wales but Latics boss Roberto Martinez remains favourite to land his former team-mate.
Swansea in the meantime have made him an offer described as the best contract offer in their history to try and keep him.
"Leon has had our offer and as far as we know he has had a couple of other offers," said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.
"We are waiting to see what he wants to do."
