Stoke keeper Steve Simonsen looks set to join Sheffield United on a permanent basis after a loan stay at Bramall Lane last season.
Simonsen joined the Blades for a brief loan stay last season and the Potters keeper admitted last week he was keen to secure regular first team football next season.
It would appear Simonsen is third-choice at the Britannia Stadium, with Thomas Sorensen and Asmir Begovic ahead of him in the pecking order, and boss Tony Pulis may be convinced to allow Simonsen to depart.
The Blades have recently lost shot-stopper Paddy Kenny to Championship rivals QPR and boss Kevin Blackwell is thought to have already held talks with Simonsen about a return to South Yorkshire.
