Sheffield United are keen on re-signing Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy who finished last season on loan with the Blades.
Nosworthy has been made available by Black Cats boss Steve Bruce, although the transfer fee and his wage demands could be a stumbling block for United.
Blades manager Kevin Blackwell has already been in touch with his Sunderland counterpart to confirm his interest, but as of yet no firm bid has been tabled.
It is understood Bruce is looking for between £500,000 and £1m for the player's services, after awarding him with a new contract last year.
Those numbers could deter United who are having to cut their wage bill following the loss of their Premier League parachute payments, so a compromise would need to be reached before any deal could be done.
