Richardson signs new deal

by setanta.com staff , 31 July 2010

Sunderland's Kieran Richardson has signed a new three-year contract at the Stadium of Light until the summer of 2013.

The 25-year-old has scored eight goals in his 85 appearances for the Black Cats since joining three years ago from Manchester United on an initial four-year contract.

The midfielder also spent six months on loan at West Brom in the 2004/05 season, and was an integral part of the team that avoided relegation that season.

In other news. Ipswich boss Roy Keane is hoping to complete the capture of Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop.

Ipswich have agreed to sign Fulop on a permanent basis, after being rebuffed in their attempts to sign the Hungarian on loan.

"We originally wanted to do the deal on loan, but then it moved on a bit and it became talk of a permanent signing," Keane told the Chronicle.

"We've talked a lot about a number of things - in fact I've spoken to (Sunderland manager) Steve Bruce more in the last month than I've spoken to my wife!

"He's not too pleased about that and I'm certainly not! But hopefully in the next 24 hours something can happen, although we've another target that we are looking at.

"At this stage we're still in discussion with agents and we just have to see what happens from there because you can never be sure.

"These sort of situations, when it comes to transfers, they don't change by the day, they change by the hour."
