Wenger has no Fab fears

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger does not feel the transfer speculation surrounding Cesc Fabregas will affect his captain's performances.

The Spanish star has been tracked by Barcelona throughout the summer and the Catalan giants have already seen a bid in the region of £30million knocked back by the Gunners.

A number of Barca stars have claimed the midfielder is eager to join them at the Nou Camp, with Carlos Puyol suggesting it may be a mistake to hold on to the player if he is eager to seal a move to La Liga.

However, Wenger is confident Fabregas will continue to be a major player for the Gunners over the course of the coming season and believes the Spanish international will help Arsenal end their long wait for a trophy.

"The best way to show you are committed is that you give your best when you walk on the football pitch and he has always done that," said Wenger on Fabregas.

"When you sign a contract it means we are committed to a player to pay him and keep him no matter what happens. There is a great attitude and spirit inside the squad and Cesc Fabregas can help us achieve these targets.

"He is now at an age, 23 years old, and he has just won the World Cup. I believe he will grow in authority again for next season. The biggest achievement for him now is to help us win the championship."
