Sheffield United have called a press conference for Tuesday afternoon where they are expected to name Gary Speed as their new boss.
The Blades parted company with former boss Kevin Blackwell following their 3-0 defeat at the hands of QPR at Bramall Lane on Saturday.
Speed was blocked by the Blades from talking to Swansea City following Roberto Martinez's departure at the Liberty Stadium and has been on the coaching staff at Bramall Lane since the end of the 2008/09 campaign, it is well known he is eager to cut his teeth in management.
The former Newcastle, Bolton and Leeds player is now expected to be named as the new Blades boss tomorrow afternoon after the club announced they had called a press conference to name their new manager.
