Newcastle United are set to sign Ivory Coast international midfielder Cheick Tiote after agreeing terms with FC Twente.
The 24-year-old has been in the North-East for his medical, which he passed, and the move is now just subject to him receiving a work permit.
Tiote was part of the Twente side which won the Dutch title last season and played in all three of his country's games at the World Cup.
He will be the Magpies' fourth summer signing, following in the footsteps of James Perch, Dan Gosling and Sol Campbell and his debut could potentially come at Wolves next Saturday.
Tiote had been wanted by rivals West Brom, who tabled a £3million offer for his services earlier this week.
