Captain Phil Neville is set for a fitness test ahead of Everton’s Carling Cup second round tie against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday.
The experienced Neville may miss the Goodison Park clash with the League One side after already sitting out the 1-1 Premier League draw with Wolves at the weekend because of a foot injury.
Elsewhere, striker Ayegbeni Yakubu will definitely miss the game after suffering a shin knock. Younger players such as Seamus Coleman, Jose Baxter and Magaye Guaye will be hoping for a first-team chance, as will new goalkeeper Jan Mucha.
Former Everton man Gary Naysmith is set to take on his old club when he returns from suspension for Huddersfield, probably in place of Celtic loanee Graham Carey.
Defenders Nathan and Tom Clarke are missing with knee injuries but there are no fresh injury concerns for Town boss Lee Clark.
