Munster secured a bonus-point win over Magners League new boys Aironi on Saturday evening, with the Irish side downing the Italian outfit 33-17.
It was a brave performance from Aironi at Musgrave Park, but Munster ultimately had too much for their opponents.
Aironi looked nervy early on, as Paul Warwick stuck over two penalties, but the visitors battled back and put Munster under pressure.
Ludovic Mercier missed a penalty, but was then successful with a brace, to bring Aironi level.
Munster put together fast and effective phases for the first time around the 25-minute mark, and got their reward when Peter Stringer picked up and passed to Felix Jones, who found a gap and sprinted over. Warrick's conversion drifted narrowly wide.
Just after the half-hour, Aironi drew level again. The visitors' centres, after picking up a chip forward, fed Julien Laharrague out wide, and the full-back dived over in the corner.
Mercier's difficult conversion missed, before his ambitious drop-goal attempt went well off target.
Aironi found themselves under pressure and offside early in the second period, with Salvatore Perugini sin-binned, as Warwick kikced for the corner.
Munster secured possession from the resultant line-out and eventually drove over through Niall Ronan. Warwick added the extras from under the posts.
Munster got their second try soon afterwards thanks to Tony Buckley, who powered in from close range, though Warwick's conversion missed.
Mercier kicked a long-range penalty to give Aironi hope on 52 minutes, but Warwick almost immediately reopened a 12-point gap with a fine drop goal.
Mercier, though, hit back again before the hour.
Munster secured the bonus point through Ronan's second try, the back row edging over after Doug Howlett had burst forward and offloaded to Johne Murphy. Warwick converted to leave the hosts 16 points in front.
Warwick missed a tough penalty with nine minutes remaining, while Nick Williams was narrowly denied a late consolation try for Aironi, as the clash drew to a close.
