Paul Collingwood was happy that England were able to focus on their cricket as they beat Pakistan by five wickets in the first T20.
The revelations of spot-fixing during the fourth Test at Lord's has sent shockwaves through the world of cricket, with three Pakistan players currently under investigation for their part in the alleged betting scam unearthed by the News of the World.
Sunday's match had been out in doubt due to the seriousness of the allegations but the ICC made it clear that the tour schedule should go ahead without the trio under suspicion.
England put Pakistan in to bat and restricted a side full of stroke makers to just 126-4 in their 20 overs, with spinners Graeme Swann (1-14) and Michael Yardy (1-21) putting the brakes on the tourists' batsmen after they got off to a decent start.
Umar Akmal top-scored with an unbeaten 35, while big-hitting skipper Shahid Afridi only batted for five overs, ending 16 not out from 14 deliveries.
England lost Craig Kieswetter early, with paceman Shoaib Akhtar tearing in at 95mph despite his advancing years, and found themselves 62-5 when Luke Wright departed for a duck.
But the ever-reliable Eoin Morgan (38 not out) and Yardy (35 not out) saw the hosts home with no further alarms and 17 balls to spare.
Collingwood admitted that it had not always been easy to concentrate on cricket during the build-up to the match and was delighted with the response from his players in Cardiff.
"It's been a tough week but we focused 100 percent on their cricket, and we enjoyed our win today," he said. "We got our teeth right into it. We had a little hiccup with the bat but the bowlers were absolutely fantastic.
"A lot has gone on this week in terms of strong decisions, and we just want the cricket to do the talking. "
I'm happy that the guys responded well to what has been a difficult week."
