Former Dublin manager Tommy Lyons has revealed that he is interested in the vacant Mayo football job.
A horrendous and short Championship campaign saw Mayo lose to Sligo in the Connacht quarter-final and bow out to unfancied Longford in the qualifiers, leading to John O’Mahony leaving the hotseat.
Lyons is a Mayo of native and would love to manage his own county, having previously been at the helm of both Offaly and the Dubs.
"I've left my name in. Would I be interested? I'd certainly talk to anyone who would be interested in talking to me,” he said.
“I have a lot of close associations with Mayo.”
Another former Dublin boss - Tommy Carr – and Kerry legend Mick O’Dwyer, who has also managed Kildare, Laois and Wicklow, are among the other outsiders for the Westerners post, with former boss John Maughan reportedly the favourite.
