Hibs part company with Hughes

by Setanta Staff , 04 October 2010

Hibernian are on the lookout for a new manager after John Hughes left the club by mutual consent.

The Scottish Premier League club find themselves third from bottom in the table after suffering their fourth loss of the season on Saturday.

They have not won since the opening day of the season and both parties agree the time for them to go their separate ways.

"John has been a hard-working and dedicated manager of Hibernian. As a former captain, and as a fan, he recognises that a fresh face and a new approach is the best option for the club at this time," chairman Rod Petrie said.

"We thank him for all of his hard work, and for his honesty and passion for the club."

Hughes added: "I have relished every minute of my time at Hibernian, the club I have always supported and which will always have a special place in my heart. I am proud of what we achieved last season, and I wish the board, players and supporters every success."
