Gordon Strachan has left his position as manager of Middlesbrough after just under a year in charge at the Riverside Stadium.
The former Celtic manager took over from Gareth Southgate last October with Boro just a point off Championship leaders Newcastle.
However, his tenure did not start well with a 1-0 home defeat against lowly Plymouth.
Boro struggled for the remainder of the campaign and finished in a mid-table position well adrift of the promotion play-off places.
Strachan spent around £6million in the summer to bolster his squad with the likes of Stephen McManus, who spent time on loan at the club last term, Nicky Bailey, Kevin Thomson and Tarmo Kink.
He also persuaded record SPL scorer Kris Boyd to join on a free transfer from Rangers.
However, despite being made hot favourites for the title, Boro have endured a nightmare start to the campaign and sit in 20th position on 11 points from 11 games following Saturday's 2-1 home defeat against Leeds.
It seems that has been enough to force the club into action and Strachan has departed the Riverside with immediate effect.
